Travel restrictions for oversized loads over the Christmas holidays

When planning for oversized loads, like a house relocation, or a boat transport, it is essential to know the restrictions in place for these oversized loads.

The Heavy Vehicle Road Operations (HVRO) Program Office is responsible for the provision of police officers for wide load escorts in Queensland, and without the wonderful support from our men and women in blue, we simply wouldn’t be able to do what we do.

Police Escort Processing Times

  • Single day movements require a 3-business day processing time.
  • Multi day moves will require 5-business day notice periods.

Truck loads that are greater than 4.5m wide, and/or 30m long will require a police escort, and during the end-of-year Christmas school holidays, there will be limitations in place about when moves can happen.

Local councils have their own sets of curfews in place, and those can be identified by using the TMR Conditions Database.

For any loads that require police or multiple escorts (greater than 4.5m wide and/or greater than 30m long) – No travel between 12.01am Sunday 19 December 2021 and 11.59pm Sunday 2 January 2022.

For all over dimensional loads – no travel between 12.01am Friday 24 December 2021 and 11.59pm Sunday 2 January 2022.
